It works fine when in manual mode...the problem is then forgetting that manual is selected and when progressing again after a slow down or stop its easy to forget to change up

You can put the car in N and release the footbrake and the engine will remain off, then put your foot on the brake pedal and move lever to D again and off you go. Works very well .

Thanks Copper , so can you tell me what speed you change from 5th to 6th on a flat road for example. Mine changes at approx 58 mph. 1st 2nd and third gears all seem to change smoothly and at the right time/speed. 3rd to 4th at approx 40mph and 4th to fifth at around 48.

had car in for 4-6 week check yesterday and the technician said that the auto box is working fine and that there have been no other complaints about it , that it is likely setup for optimum economy and for road layout. I accept this , but still find it strange that i only get to 6th gear at 58 mph. ...

in sport mode it would hold the gear for longer so it would be worse

Hi wheelchap , i find that if i use manual mode with the paddles then the gear will stay high much better than using the paddles whilst in drive mode. The problem then is remembering when I'm in manual to change the gears up. My mpg varies , around town 27 - 40. my best yet was 60.5 and average 39.1...

I think you'd have had to specify pan roof Kevin. its an optional extra on all except the GT
