Problem updating map - DEC 2014 version

HI, before I go and tackle our local dealer, who being in France will probably scratch his head and 'shrug', before telling me it's a problem, perhaps someone has seen this before -
I have the new map and activation code. I put the system into map management / update and inserted a USB key into the only slot (in the central compartment). The key has been formatted as FAT32 and all the files are present in the root folder and checking, it can be read on various computers.
Inserting the key gives an immediate - 'media unreadable' message on screen.
Not sure where to go from here. The online help from 'HERE', the Peugeot site is completely unresponsive!
