Until recently my tailgate could be opened with the engine running by pressing the dashboard button twice.
However, whilst all other methods of opening the door work, foot under, remote key, pushbutton on tailgate, I cannot open it from the dashboard unless I stop the engine!. Two pushes of that button result in the tailgate unlocking and moving up an inch or so accompanied by a double beep each time I then press the button but with no further movement!. Can it be reprogrammed?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting to see if that resets everything?

Many thanks for your suggestion. However, I left the car at my dealer's for a couple of hours and on return it was fixed when, according to the technician, they simply plugged a computer in. In other words, I simply could not understand his explanation!
