EAT8 Auto - Leave in DRIVE at the traffic lights?

Is there any problem leaving the gearbox in Drive and manually applying the Parking brake when stopped at the traffic lights?

Or should it be in Neutral? or Park?

Hi JeffG

If you are going to put the handbrake on you should place it into park. You can sit at the lights with your foot on the brake while leaving it in drive.

At night with your foot on the brake, in drive at lights for example leaves the driver behind completely blinded by the brake lights especially in the wet. Very poor practice and should be outlawed.

I dislike the practice of sitting on the brake pedal at t-lights etc, so using the automatic parking brake is great. the only diference I've noticed is that if you apply the parking brake and the engine was in ' switch off ' mode, applying the parking brake re-starts the engine.

I go into neutral, apply the parking brake and the engine stops if all things let it. Try that.
